GROOMING TIPS FROM CARTER.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

This message comes from our buddy Carter. He wants to remind all of you gents that changing up your look doesn't always mean a wardrobe overhaul (although sometimes it does.) A bit of grooming can go a long way.

LOOK OF THE DAY: 2012 OLYMPICS EDITION

Before we got excited about how well the athletes were going to do, we got excited about what they were going to wear!
And of course, we have to mention Great Britain's controversial team uniform, designed by Stella McCartney. Thoughts?

PICK OF THE WEEK

This week, we're taking style cues from GQ's August cover man, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. We loved him in Inception and most recently, The Dark Knight Rises. We may or may not have even enjoyed his performance in 500 Days of Summer, you know, that one time there was nothing else to watch on Netflix.

We thought he'd be an appropriate style inspiration, not just because he was on the cover of GQ, but because his style has gone through quite the EVOLUTION. So good new, fellas: There's hope for even the most sartorially challenged. (And one bad haircut isn't the end of the world, although it may seem like it at the time.)

THE GREAT DEBATE

Should men wear sandals?

Image via The Sartorialist.
We've looked at it a couple of different ways, and so far, this is what we've come up with:

Images via British Vogue.
Although some guys may never wear a sandal, outside of a pair of flip flops at the beach, we think that the 'mandal' (sandal for men) can be worn with as much class and style as a pair of dress shoes. Let us be clear, however. We're definitely not talking about these sandals.

A nice, simple leather sandal (like the ones featured in the runway photos above) with NO VELCRO is probably the safest bet when investing in a pair of such 'controversial' Summer footwear. Might we also suggest staying away from socks and sandals? It defeats the purpose of wearing a shoe that is meant to expose a bit of skin, plus, unless you're in the middle of the suburbs on a weekday morning walking across your lawn to pick up the morning newspaper, it just really is not acceptable.

The best advice we've come across regarding the 'mandal debate' comes from menswear blogger Dan Trepanier of The Style Blogger. He says, "Make sure your feet are looking proper — no blisters, corns or hairy uppers. Don't be afraid to get a pedicure. Think pedis aren't manly? Michael Jordan used to get them weekly... Once you try it, you'll be hooked."

So now we look to you, our fine readers, for your opinions and rebuttal. What do you think? Should men wear sandals? Should we leave the strap-y shoes to women whose feet are arguable better looking than ours? Tell us. We're dying to know.

PIC(K)S OF THE WEEK

We're obviously huge fans of suits. However, this weather's got us inspired by more casual looks that beat the heat. Here are our favourites from, well, our favourites: Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, and Tommy Ton for GQ.

GREETINGS

Our pal Carter has grown quite a bit since the last time you saw him. Perhaps it's time to make a stop at the shop to say, "Hello!"

Carter still loves visitors. He also loves freeze-dried cheese.
