This week, we're featuring a blog from Berlin, called What Ali wore. It chronicles the outfits of Ali, a sharply-dressed; elderly man who walks by a cafe where Zoe Spawton,  the blog’s author and photographer, works. Little is known of Ali, except that "Ali has lived in Berlin for 44 years, he is a retired doctor but now works as a tailor," and that "he has 18 children." (Yes, you read that correctly: 18 children.)

The blog is relatively new, but has garnered a lot of attention because Ali is living prof of timeless style.

Here are photos from one of our favourite blogs, the Sartorialist, of street art in Paris, featuring vintage photos of street style. It's interesting to note that while these people were photographed decades earlier, they'd still likely make it into fashion blogs today, with their well-tailored clothes and impeccable style.

Like they (well, Yves Saint Laurent) said, "Fashions fade, style is eternal."

This week we're featuring blogger Denny Balmaceda, of Look rich, shop cheap
Photos via,, and Lookrichshopcheap.
We like how he constantly changes up his look, while consistently getting it right. He has collaborated with brands like Nike and Levi's, and we think Denny is a great example of gents who take risks, and aren't afraid of trying new things when it comes to their style.
Bravo, Denny. Keep it up!

T.G.I.Thursday! It's almost the end of the week, and we thought we'd share a pretty funny skit we saw recently from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, about suits, ties, and mannequin arms. How fitting.
Enjoy it, and if you're at the office right now, hang in there! The weekend is almost here!

Whether it be on men or women, in complete outfits or small accessories—camouflage has been making its way  through the fashion crowd for more that a couple of seasons now, but has been, we think, most noticeable recently.

We're on board with the camouflage trend, but what do you fellas think?

Get ready for spring with a pair (or two) of our new chinos! Be sure to stop by the shop and have a look!
If you're still in winter-dressing mode (as I'm sure most people are, on account of the unpredictable weather) here's some inspiration from one of our favourites, The Sartorialist, of how to pull off a pair of chinos this spring.
Choose one of the brighter hues for a pop of colour, like the first gentleman above, or chose one of the neutrals if you don't typically wear too much colour, but still want to look spring-appropriate, like the second gentleman on the right. Or, you know, just get a couple and experiment with your look!No matter who or what your style influences are this spring season, wear your new chinos well, with confidence!

Just got some new necklaces in at the shop—this time, for the ladies. We've still got your usual favourites, but we've just added a pair of mini keys, the grooviest sparkling sphere you've ever seen, as well as a single, larger version of the mini key pendant.
Stop by the shop and have a look!

We are crazy about this tie-bar, and had to showcase it as the finishing detail of this outfit that we are equally crazy about. If you've read our blog before, you know that we are great enthusiasts of mixing patterns and colours, and what better way to do that, than with a classic suit, bold; coloured print like this paisley tie, against the subtle stripe on the shirt.

The all-black outfit has been a staple among almost everyone's wardrobe at some time or another. We've even featured it on the blog because let's face it, the all-black ensemble is an easy-to-wear classic.

However, we think that monochromatic outfits that aren't black can also look great—just keep a few things in mind before you throw on that all-neon-yellow ensemble you've got hanging out in your closet. (We won't even ask you why you've got one. We don't really want to know.)
Play with mixing patterns and textures. We've said this about wearing all-black outfits as well, but we think that this applies to any sort of monochromatic outfit. It keeps your outfit from looking flat and boring. It also keeps you from looking like Justin Timberlake, circa 2001.
Play with different shades of a colour you want to wear, especially if you've chosen a bold colour. Sometimes wearing the same shade of a bright colour can be overwhelming to look at, and might make you look more clown-ish than dapper.
No matter what you do, wear your clothes with confidence and you're sure to look great!

Happy Friday, folks!

This week, we bring you Style Girlfriend, a blog we recently came across with an interesting concept. The blog offers some sartorial advice to men from a woman's perspective.
Photos via
Style Girlfriend's creator, Megan Collins' love for men's fashion began when she received a hand-me-down Milwaukee Bucks Starter jacket from her older brother. "I was seven and couldn't name a single player on the team, but I adored that coat and wore it every day, stopping only when I found myself pairing it with shorts and sandals in June," she said.

Since then, Collins has evolved from wearing men's clothes to helping sartorially-challenged guys everywhere "pick the clothes out on their own.

We like her style of styling, because she doesn't just choose clothes women would pick out for their boyfriends or husbands. She does, however, choose stylish, well-made, classic pieces that will serve your wardrobe well for a long time, while also impressing your lady. "I know what I like on guys, and I’m happy to tell them in a positive, constructive way," she said. "A lot of ladies out there, including well-meaning girlfriends and wives, can’t bring themselves to do the same. That’s where I come in."
See for yourself HERE, and tell us what you think!

Today's look is keeping with the basics: great suit, shirt, and tie. However, we've changed it up a bit by adding some colour and texture with an orange, knit tie, as well as the fine polka dot on the shirt for some extra detail.

It's easy to keep an outfit simple while also add some interest, by just choosing some subtle patters and one bold colour.

Last night, we stepped out to support our friends at Uncle Otis, who launched their Levi's Made & Crafted pop-up shop. As big fans of good drinks and great fashion, of course we had to make an appearance!
