Here at Simon Carter, we're big advocates of unique style. We often browse through many other menswear blogs and admire the way different men around the world strut their sartorial stuff, as well as how they present it to their respective audiences. 

In addition to unique style, we're also big believers in social media and the sort of access you can get to people, like menswear aficionados of the world. LOOK OF THE DAY pt.2: GRAMMY EDITION

There were far too many looks and moments at the Grammys that we want to share, so we thought we'd show you a short, photo-recap of our Grammy highlights. Shades of blue seemed to be quite popular among music industry men this year, and we're certainly not complaining. Monochromatic looks seemed to be the sartorial theme of the evening, as of course, all-black and all-white outfits were sprinkled throughout the red carpet as well. 

Some other notable moments were Jay-Z's "sippy cup" acceptance speech, and Pharrell's hat, which now has its own Twitter account.

And of course, let's not forget Beyoncé.

PICK OF THE WEEK

In 1981, then 22 year-old photographer Christopher Morris was interning at New York photo agency Black Star. He was eager to make his mark, so over a six-month period in 1981, he embedded himself in the world of the New York subway system.

The outcome was a reflection of what life in New York was like in that time, from the early-morning commuters, to the late-night travellers—Morris was able to capture interesting subjects in the commuting space of midtown Manhattan, further north in the Bronx, and the eastern wilds of Brooklyn. 

THIS JUST IN: WATCHES

We've got new watches in the shop! Some with Military straps, which are a simple one-piece, pass through strap with a no extra hardware or secondary strap. This design was common after WWII, and used by the U.S. Military and the Royal Air Force.

LOOK OF THE DAY: MID-WEEK EDITION

We know we started this week of with looks from The Golden Globes, but we couldn't not share an ensemble that we put together here at the shop. We chose mixed prints, classic lines, and of course, colour—just your average everyday outfit, Simon Carter-style.

LOOK OF THE DAY: THE GOLDEN GLOBES

It's award season again, which means that it's time for all of the stars to shine in their most dapper threads. During last night's Golden Globes, P. Diddy, Leaonardo DiCaprio, and Usher were some of our picks for "best dressed."

We were also a big fan of Matthew McConaughey's velvet jacket, because it was a nice take on a classic tux that stood out without being flashy. We suppose it is fitting, though, as an award-winner such as himself has probably got enough flash from that golden trophy.

PICK OF THE WEEK: "ROUGH SKETCH PRODUCTS"

Almost all finished product start with an idea. Sometimes, these ideas come in the form of a rough sketch. However, these products never really made it too far past the drawing board. 

Japanese designer Daigo Fukawa created a series of furniture called “Rough Sketch Products” that look like scribbles on scrap paper. Though they look like scribbles, these are real, functional chairs and benches. They’re kind of surreal, and even though they don't look terribly comfortable, they are sturdy enough to be functional.

It's 2014! We hope everyone had a happy and wonderful new year, with plenty of champagne and celebrations. Now it's back to business, and we're bringing you some of our favourite looks to come out of British men's fashion as of late, as presented by British GQ's instagram feed.

Layers, bright colours, and classic tailoring are dominating the runways, and we could not be happier. 2014 is looking like a great year already!
