LOOK OF THE DAY

Today's look is brought to you by the Monday blues. Or rather, a sure-fire cure to the dreaded Mondays: some good, upbeat music you can really step to. Our pick? The temptations.

Here's hoping that you've all got sunshine on this cloudy day (You see what we did there?), and that these last 'April showers' bring us better weather, and the chance to finally put all of our winter clothes in storage, at least for a couple of months.

Also, don't forget to look for clues about our big surprise, coming your way soon!

DRUMROLL, PLEASE.

Things are getting exciting at the shop, and we're dying to tell you how so - but not quite yet.

Keep an eye on the blog, Facebook, and Twitter, because we might just post a few clues. A little bit of suspense and theatrics never hurt anyone, right? The big reveal will be next week!

Stay tuned!

POPLIN

Here's a little-known (at least to us, until a few days ago) fact about poplin, a staple in our shirt collection here at the shop: In 1989, the U.S. military started using poplin cloth for their lightweight, Battle Dress Uniform, with the camouflage pattern print.

Now unfortunately, we can't guarantee that you'll be transformed into a macho, military, Rambo-type character with one of our poplin shirts on. But who knows, that rough-and-tumble history of poplin fabric, mixed with the classic cut of our shirts might just have you channeling James Bond instead. And who doesn't want to be more like James Bond?*

*In case you forgot, THIS is James Bond.

LOOK OF THE DAY: MONDAY EDITION

We, like most of you, are not a huge fan of Mondays. Having to get up to go to work after a fun-filled weekend is never easy, and when you realize you've also got to get dressed, well, sometimes that's just asking for too much.

We got to thinking, and we're now going to be bringing you your sartorial inspiration every Monday. Just a little treat to cure the blues.

Enjoy!

LIBERTY

Liberty London has been creating beautiful and eccentric printed fabrics since the late 1800s. But where does such an inspirational brand get their inspiration from? Artists and musicians like Graham Coxon (above), B.B. KingForeigner (second photo below), and Florence Welch of Florence and the machine, among many others, have all left their mark - bad pun most definitely intended - on some fantastic prints ranging from florals to sketches of birds.

Storm Thorgerson, famous artist and photographer known for creating album covers for Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Over the years, the Liberty art fabrics, as they've come to be known, have become a part of British art history. Each unique print is a reflection of the people, art, and musical genres that have inspired them.

Stop by the shop and pick up your own little piece of art history - we've got plenty of Liberty prints to go around!

THIS JUST IN: UMBRELLAS

April showers bring May flowers - and the possibility of getting your eye poked on the street while you're walking. To avoid taking someone's eye out - or losing one of your own - we thought we would share some umbrella etiquette with you gents.

1. When encountering another umbrella remember this tip: if the umbrella is shorter than yours, lift yours up in passing. If the other umbrella is taller than yours, pull yours down closer to your head while passing.

2. It’s impossible to fit two umbrellas on a sidewalk, so stop trying! Just share one. It's not a big deal. No one wants to maneuver around an umbrella barricade, and it’s always the duo-umbrella wall that injures umbrella-less pedestrians.

3. Watch out for pedestrians - especially if they’re braving the rain without any umbrella security. Know where all of your umbrella's pokey metal or plastic bits are, and keep them away from faces and bodies.

4. When shaking your umbrella dry, do it outside and away from people. Most buildings have an entryway or sheltered area to do this. Don’t be the guy who shakes water onto passing strangers or onto the floor, because you really don't want to be the guy who causes accidents, either.

5. If you're going to step out with an umbrella, might we suggest using a classic, Italian-made one with a hand-curved, wooden handle, water-repellent cotton canopy, and steel ribs and stretchers? Not sure where to find one of those? Stop by the shop and we'll show you!
